Tharsys Planet

Project for the creation of an exoplanet similar to Earth. The name of this new planet is Tharsys. It is an ancient planet capable of sustaining life, formed by vast oceans and scattered continents with varied shapes and geography. I created the surface image using Photoshop to paint and combine different textures and tones that define the final look of the planet. What’s interesting about this work, from a technical perspective, has been the ability to generate the reliefs using two displacement maps—one for the surface and another for the clouds—then working on them with a color map to bring them to life. To get more nuances, I made a roughness map. For the final 3D renders, I used Maya with Arnold. To reach an optimal level of realism, I used 16K renders.
